West Australian Site Honoured with Sustainability Award

Presented annually in June as part of the Company’s Sustainability Month program, this award is given at the discretion of CEO Sean Winstone and recognises a manufacturing site across Bradken’s global network that has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to site sustainability and continuous improvement over the past year.

In announcing the win, Mr Winstone thanked the Wundowie team for their ongoing commitment to progressing Bradken’s sustainability journey and helping achieve our carbon neutrality goals.

“It may be one of our smaller foundries, with only about 40 personnel in total, but the dedicated team at Wundowie has made some remarkable achievements in advancing Bradken's sustainability agenda,” Mr Winstone said.

“The data speaks for itself - despite increasing production by about 13% in the past year the site was able to reduce its overall energy consumption and CO2 emissions, reducing its emissions intensity by 12%.

“But behind the data are the people that make the improvements possible. Not one, but three Wundowie team members are active participants in our global carbon neutral working group and, in addition to this, other team members are devoting their personal time to creating and maintaining site greenspaces.

“Protecting our future by prioritising actions that reduce our carbon footprint is a key strategic focus for Bradken as we work towards achieving carbon neutrality for our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030.

“I congratulate the Wundowie team and thank them for reinforcing the fact that the size of the site doesn't matter when it comes to making a significant contribution to achieving our sustainability goals. Their efforts are appreciated and will no doubt help to ensure a sustainable future for their site and for Bradken.”

Senior Site Manager for Wundowie, Clive Macaskill, said the award is well deserved recognition for a team that puts their all into creating a greener future.

“The employees were not at all expecting to receive this recognition but are very proud of their achievements and they feel a great sense of satisfaction from having them acknowledged,” Mr Macaskill said.

“The team is very passionate, dedicated and driven in their work to improve the sustainability of the Wundowie site, not because it’s expected but because it is the right thing to do.”
